Cabo San Lucas is located approximately 1,000 miles south of San Diego, California at the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula in the State of Baja California Sur. Los Cabos International Airport is conveniently located just 20 miles to the northeast of our resort.
Los Cabos is a county in the State of Baja California Sur, Mexico that incorporates the cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Due to its location on the southern tip of Baja, Los Cabos is often called Land's End.
Los Cabos is easily accessible from most major cities in the United States and Mexico. Before arrival in Mexico, visitors should rent a car or book shared or private transfer service from the airport to our resort. Ask our concierge for details. A valid, government issued drivers license from your state of residence is required. No special permits or bonds are needed unless you plan to continue on to Mexico's mainland. Mexican roads are generally safe, but narrow by U.S. standards so use caution. The corridor connecting Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo is a modern four-lane highway with adequate lighting.
Insurance is required to drive in Mexico. While you are purchasing insurance, be sure to get a map of gas station locations. Since stations can be far apart, it is a good idea to keep your gas tank as full as possible, even if it means extra stops.

Grand Solmar Lands End Resort Spa guests can access all Solmar Hotels & Resorts beaches and facilities. Guests of the Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa can access facilities at the Solmar All Inclusive resort. Please note that meals or beverages are not included in exchange benefits.
Yes, taxis are available at all Solmar Hotels & Resorts. Ask our bellboy to hail a bad at any time. Be sure to check the current taxi fares posted in our motor lobby, and remember that taxi fares are higher at a taxi stand as opposed to those procured on the street.
You can leave your bill open to easily sign for drinks and meals, shop at the convenience store and boutiques, visit the spa, and book special tours. All signed purchases will be charged to your bill. At the end of your stay, you have the option to settle with cash (US dollars or Mexican pesos), travelers checks or Visa, Master Card or American Express credit cards. Please note that personal checks and Discover cards are not accepted.
All of our resorts offer convenience stores offering snacks, deli products, soft drinks, beer, wine, spirits, and assorted grocery items. Our shops also carry household goods, souvenirs, drugstore items, and a selection of imported and Mexican goods.
The official currency in Mexico is the Mexican peso, however US dollars are also accepted in Cabo San Lucas (but not outside the tourist areas). US and Canadian dollars and travelers checks can be exchanged at the Front Desk daily between 10am-6pm. Local banks and Bureau de Change outlets can also exchange US dollars, Canadian dollars, Euros, Pounds, and travelers checks for pesos.
The official language in Mexico is Spanish, but English is widely spoken, especially in resort areas. Don't hesitate to speak Spanish to our staff and locals if you wish to practice your language skills, we appreciate it!
Standard power voltage in Mexico is 110 volts. We recommend that you bring a voltage converter with you if you are using 220 volt devices. Voltage converters are available at most travel shops and at many international airports.
We suggest a daily tip for the maid who cleans your room of $3 US for a Master Suite, $2 US for a Suite and $5 US for a Penthouse. You should expect to tip waiters 15% and offer sky caps and bell-boys a tip of $2 US per bag.
Los Cabos offers convenient daily bus service between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Busses only run on the main highway and pass each stop (approximately) every twenty minutes. Bus fare runs around 35 pesos per person (about $3 U.S.) between the two cities.
Cabo San Lucas is a tropical destination offering an arid climate with over 300 days of sunshine each year. During the high tourist season (October-April) temperatures are typically around 80 F during the day and mid-60's at night. In the low season (May-September) temperatures can rise to 100+ F during the day and stay in the upper 70's to low 80's in the evening. Most rainfall occurs during the months of September and October.
Cool, light colored cotton clothing and comfortable shoes are recommended for exploring the area. You will need trousers and a long-sleeved shirt for jungle treks, as well as a light jacket or sweater for cooler evenings. Be sure to pack a swimsuit, a hat, sunglasses, and plenty of sunscreen.
The Government of Mexico requires that all visitors present a valid passport from their country of residence. If you are flying into Mexico, you will also need a Tourist Card (FMT). The FMT form will be provided to you by your airline.
